On March 7, 2005, the inaugural meeting of the Linux Solutions Group took place in Stuttgart. The 29 founding members include global players in the IT business, medium-sized IT providers, as well as users, cities and municipalities, and academic institutions.

At the meeting, the management board of the Linux Solutions Group was elected:

Chairman of the management board: Dr. Karl-Heinz Strassemeyer, IBM Deutschland Entwicklung GmbH

Vice-chairman: Richard Seibt, Novell Europe

Karl-Eugen Binder, Stuttgarter Lebensversicherung a. G.

Heiko Erhardt, skynamics AG

Dirk Haaga, Red Hat GmbH

Niels Mache, struktur AG

The management of the main office was delegated to MFG Baden-Württemberg.
